Jet Hollow Chisel Mortiser (2001)

This tool was purchased when the thought of hand-cutting a few hundred 1/4" motices for a set of Mission furniture proved too much. I purchased this over the other available models for several reasons. It's much cheaper than the "high-end" machines available, it's much better quality than the low-end Grizzly machine, it's slightly cheaper than the closely-comparable Delta machine, but was cheaper and came with 3 free chisel sets. So far I'm very happy with this machine. In fact, I'm kicking myself for not buying this sooner. Not only are joints made much quicker, but they're much more accurate and consistent than I can possibly do by hand. I'd highly recommend this machine if your projects include mortices.

By the way, this was my first Jet tool in their new white color scheme. I can't say I dislike it, but it sure is an oddball in an otherwise true-blue shop. I think I actually like the white better than the blue, but it sure does stick out like a sore thumb. Maybe I'll have to purchase all new white Jet tools to stay color coordinated (I can hear SWMBO yelling now)!
