Cherry Turned Bowl (3/19/2007)
This 6-1/4" diameter natural edge cherry burl bowl was turned by myself and three other turners at the January 200 meeting of the Huron RivValley Woodturners chapter of the American Association of Woodturners. The meeting topic was turning burls, and this was one of the examples. We started by looking at a few clumps of burl on the floor and discussion how we might cut it and what form it might be suited for (bowl, hollow form, etc). The form's not perfect, and the bottom went a bit deep (hence the carved foot), but it still is a good looking bowl. And it was a blast making it with a few other turners.
